Volunteering & Partnerships
Every Contribution Can Matter
Bringing people and organisations together to help create a more dementia-friendly Hertfordshire.
Volunteering and community involvement can make a meaningful difference to the lives of people affected by dementia. By bringing together different experiences, interests and abilities, communities can create opportunities for greater understanding, social inclusion and participation.
People living with dementia and their families should have a voice in shaping the activities and initiatives intended to support them. Listening to their experiences helps ensure that community projects reflect genuine needs, respect individual choices and promote dignity and independence.
At Dementia Outreach CIC, we believe successful volunteering begins with clear expectations, appropriate preparation and a shared commitment to inclusion. We aim to develop opportunities where individuals and organisations can contribute responsibly, build positive relationships and help strengthen dementia-friendly communities across Hertfordshire.
Working Together for a More Inclusive Community
Positive community change depends on people who are willing to listen, share skills and work alongside others. Dementia Outreach CIC welcomes conversations with residents, prospective volunteers, community groups and organisations interested in creating more inclusive opportunities for people affected by dementia. Our focus is on meaningful contribution, respect and practical local impact.
Not everyone can offer the same time or skills, and that is fine. One person may enjoy organising community events; another may have experience of accessible communication, fundraising, administration or local networking. Businesses and groups may be able to offer meeting space, specialist knowledge or help sharing reliable information. The aim is not to collect impressive numbers of volunteers, but to develop purposeful roles and responsible relationships that support the CIC’s community mission.
Ways You Could Get Involved
Volunteer Your Time or Skills
Make a Meaningful Contribution
Volunteering with Dementia Outreach CIC offers an opportunity to contribute towards building more inclusive and dementia-friendly communities across Hertfordshire. We welcome expressions of interest from people who would like to share their time, experience and skills to support our developing community initiatives.
Potential opportunities may include supporting dementia awareness activities, helping to organise accessible community events, assisting with communications, administration, fundraising or contributing practical skills behind the scenes. Different people bring different strengths, and every contribution should have a clear purpose.
Before recruiting volunteers into specific roles, Dementia Outreach CIC intends to establish appropriate role descriptions, induction, safeguarding procedures and supervision arrangements. Some roles may require additional checks or training. Our aim is to develop responsible volunteering opportunities that respect the dignity, independence and wellbeing of people affected by dementia.
Community Partnerships and Collaboration
Building Strong Community Partnerships
Building strong community partnerships can help create more inclusive opportunities for people living with dementia and their families. Dementia Outreach CIC welcomes conversations with local charities, schools, libraries, community centres, faith groups and other organisations interested in promoting dementia awareness and social inclusion across Hertfordshire.
Working together could involve organising community awareness activities, sharing reliable information, developing inclusive events or identifying local barriers that prevent people affected by dementia from participating fully in community life. We are also interested in hearing from organisations that may be able to offer accessible meeting spaces, equipment, specialist knowledge or connections with local community networks.
Our approach is to develop responsible partnerships based on shared values, clear responsibilities and mutual respect. Any proposed collaboration would be considered carefully, taking account of accessibility, safeguarding, available resources and the needs of the people involved. We believe meaningful partnerships should encourage participation, respect individual choices and contribute towards building more dementia-friendly communities.
A Responsible Approach to Getting Involved
Working with people affected by dementia requires sensitivity, respect and clear boundaries. Dementia Outreach CIC intends to develop appropriate volunteer role descriptions, safer recruitment procedures, induction and supervision arrangements before volunteers become involved in relevant community activities.
Some volunteering roles may require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, depending on the responsibilities involved. Volunteers will receive information about their roles, safeguarding expectations, confidentiality and the importance of respecting individual choices.
Our priority is to create responsible volunteering opportunities that benefit people living with dementia, their families and the wider community. Expressing interest does not guarantee a volunteering position. Opportunities will depend on the CIC’s developing activities, available resources and appropriate arrangements.
Who Can Express Interest?
Dementia Outreach CIC welcomes expressions of interest from adults who would like to volunteer, people with lived experience of dementia or caring, local charities, community groups, educational organisations, businesses and potential funders across Hertfordshire.
We value different backgrounds, experiences and abilities. Whether someone can contribute their time, professional skills, local knowledge or access to community resources, their involvement could help shape more welcoming and dementia-friendly communities. We particularly want people living with dementia and their families to have meaningful opportunities to share their views and influence future initiatives.
If you are interested in getting involved, we welcome you to contact Dementia Outreach CIC to introduce yourself or your organisation, explain your interests and share the area of Hertfordshire you are connected with. Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need dementia-care qualifications to volunteer?
Not for every possible role. Requirements depend on the activity and responsibilities involved. Appropriate training, induction and safeguarding arrangements will be explained before anyone is accepted into a volunteering role.
Are organisations automatically listed as partners?
No. Expressing interest does not establish a formal partnership. Dementia Outreach CIC will only name an organisation as a partner or display its logo when appropriate arrangements and permission are in place.
