Why they choose us
Why Dementia-Friendly Communities Matter
Dementia-friendly communities help people living with dementia feel understood, respected and included. By raising awareness, reducing stigma and encouraging meaningful connections, we aim to make Hertfordshire a place where people affected by dementia can continue to participate in everyday community life.
Raising awareness and improving understanding of dementia helps challenge stigma, reduce misconceptions and create communities where people living with dementia are treated with dignity, respect and compassion.
Everyone deserves to feel included, valued and independent. Dementia-friendly communities help people living with dementia maintain confidence, make choices and continue participating in everyday activities and community life.
Meaningful social connections and regular community involvement can help reduce loneliness, promote emotional wellbeing and support a sense of belonging for people living with dementia, their families and carers.
Families and unpaid carers play an essential role in supporting people living with dementia. Dementia-friendly communities can provide understanding, shared experiences, useful information and connections that help families and carers feel less isolated and better supported.
